More Differences Between Humans And Dogs Here are a few other interesting differences. One very big issue with diet these days is cholesterol. What's interesting is that a dog's liver and biliary system is set up to handle almost unlimited amounts of cholesterol.
That says something about what we are meant NOT to eat, as in foods that have a lot of cholesterol in them like meat and fat. It's also interesting to note that, in contrast, there is no cholesterol in plants. So, a pretty good case can be made that humans are designed to eat plant and starch based foods and are not set up to eat mostly flesh protein and fats. But what about the history of health when it comes to various cultures and diets. Even If A Culture
Has Survived, Is It Healthy? Here's an interesting
fact relating to this that I never thought of before until read about
it recently. If a group of people, such as the Eskimos, need to continue
to live generation after generation, all they need to do is continue to
have children in the same numbers as the elderly who pass away each year.
Yet how old does a human being need to be in order to have children? Not
very old. So what that means is that any culture could have their children, raise them until they can live on their own and then drop dead and the culture would still survive. In other words, a culture could continue for many thousands of years even if the adults are dying at 40-50 years of age. So just because a particular group of people are still around doesn't necessarily mean that they are healthy. So as you go about your day, and see people eating around you, think about how you are designed from head to toe in terms of what you are meant to eat and what you aren't. I think you would agree that the evidence is pretty strong that you, with all due respect, are more similar to a scruffy, old gorilla than a sporty, nicely groomed dog! Till next time, - Andy
