But in 1991, a microwave oven was used in a hospital to heat up the blood. The patient who received this microwaved blood transfusion died. Basically, the microwaving altered the blood and it killed the patient. Studies have also been done on the blood of individuals after they have consumed microwaved milk and vegetables. A Dr. Hertel from Switzerland found that, after eating microwaved food, lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell that helps the body fight infection) showed a more distinct short term decrease than any of the other blood related variables. In addition, according to Dr. Hertel, leukocytes (another type type of white blood cell) increased in levels in the blood of people who ate microwaved foods. As he put it, “Leukocytes are often signs of pathogenic effects on the living system, such as poisoning and cell damage.” Yet soon after Dr. Hertel’s results were published, a powerful trade organization (The Swiss Association of Dealers for Electro-Apparatuses for Household and Industry) forced the president of the Court of Seftigen to issue a gag order against Dr. Hertel. In other words, they didn’t want any of Dr. Hertel’s work to get out and be known to the public. It took 6 long years for Dr. Hertel to overturn that decision. And if you are still thinking about heating up your food or cold coffee with your beloved microwave oven, here’s some results from Russian studies that were done on microwaving of certain foods.
Anyway, micowaving food always gave me the creeps from the very first time I did it. It just didn't seem right. But once I read the research about the effects that microwave cooking had on foods and liquids, I got rid of our microwave and would never eat or drink anything that has been microwaved again. It’s no wonder that microwaves used in cooking were OUTLAWED in Russia years ago. So, get rid of your microwave oven. TODAY!!! All you have to do is replace it with a “convection oven”. The convection oven we have is made by Waring. We really like it. It’s amazing how quickly it heats up leftovers. Below is a picture of a Waring convection oven. - Andy
