We can all agree that you should drink water. But what kind of water should you drink? You hear some people say that water out of the tap has been shown to be just as clean as water that you buy in the store in bottles. Well, clean water is certainly important. But there is much more to water than simply whether or not it is free of pollutants. To
get past the controversial opinions surrounding water, wouldn't it make
sense to study water that has proven to have very potent healing properties?
Specifically, water that is found in areas that, through the centuries,
have become well known for their amazing healing results? Places like Worishofen, the famous spa in Germany or the famous springs of Fatima in Portugal and Lourdes in France. Untold thousands of people have benefited from the healing powers of these amazing waters. In fact, in Italy alone there are 14 distinguished, medically recognized water treatment centers. It is in places like this that the properties of water should be examined and studied. And when you do study the water in these locations, you uncover some fascinating characteristics. Let's look at pH first. You have learned through this newsletter series that it is important to eat alkaline rich foods. But I bet you never gave much thought as to what the pH of the water you drink should be. Well, one of the properties that all these healing waters have in common are that all are quite alkaline. Some very alkaline in fact, on the order of a pH of 8 to 9! In the same way that alkaline foods will buffer the acids in your body, so too will alkaline water. This is one of the reasons for the dramatic healing that can occur when people drink and bathe in these waters. In contrast, the water that comes out of your tap and even almost all bottled water you buy at the store is acid. Another characteristic of the water that can be found at these spas is the electrical potential of the water. Here's what this means. Alkaline water has a negative charge because of all the electrons in the water. One of the ways you can measure the number of electrons in water is through a device that measures Oxidative Reduction Potential or ORP. The ORP value of water tells you how many electrons the water has in it. This value is measured in millivolts. Because electrons have a negative charge, the ORP of some of these famous healing waters is on the order of minus 50 to minus 100 millivolts (-50 to -100 mV). Contrast this with tap water that is often measured at +500 millivolts, the positive 500 millivolts being because the tap water is packed with positively charged hydrogen ions and is, therefore, acid. A third property of these healing waters is the molecular structure of the water. In other words, how large the water molecule clusters tend to be. In tap water, the H2O molecules tend to cluster together in groups of 10 - 20. With healing water, the H2O molecules tend to cluster in groups of only 5-6 or less. What this means is that when the H2O molecules are in smaller clusters, they are easier for your body to absorb. The water is said to be "wetter" and your body can take more of it in. Which
