Books

Goodbye Hangovers Hello Life
By Jean Kirkpatrick, Ph.D.

This is the best book for describing how the Women for Sobriety program works. It was written by the founder of The WFS organization and describes how she recovered from alcoholism and created a recovery program for women.

Beyond the Influence
By Katherine Ketcham and
William Asbury

A great book for learning about the physiological causes of the disease of alcoholism. Easy to read with interesting stories woven in.

Sober for Good
By Anne M. Fletcher

This book has been very popular in our WFS group's library. The author went to hundreds of people who resolved a drinking problem and asked them a simple question: how did you do it? Their answers will surprise you.

Many Roads, One Journey
By Charlotte Davis Kasl, Ph.D.

This is my favorite recovery book because it helped me to accept my disease of alcoholism and still feel good about myself. It gave me hope for a future of joyful sobriety.

Seven Weeks to Sobriety
By Joan Mathews Larson, Ph.D.

Uses a nutritional approach to relieving symptoms caused by common problems alcoholics experience. Some of these include nutritional deficits, food allergies, thyroid disorders, hypoglycemia, and candida-related complex.

How to Quit Drinking Without AA
By Jerry Dorsman

This well-used book is a very practical guide to recovery. It validated my feeling that AA was not the best choice for me and gave me the strength to start a Women for Sobriety group.

All of the above books can be purchased at the Women for Sobriety on-line bookstore at the following link, and your order helps to support this non-profit self-help organization!
